We have to work that day. I hate fresh season (except for all the good paychecks). We can come after were done for part of the game.

I would assume so. Haven't heard otherwise. I think redshirt and new guy can make it, they'll just be late. If they can't make it, maybe we could do a boardgame day? Not sure if you guys could handle an adventure with no tank and no healer...

Good game, everybody. Thanks to Xombie and Gir for hosting, thanks to Xombie and porkchop for cooking (and Gir, too, if you helped cook , and thanks to everybody for snacks and whatnot. That white chili was really good, Xombie. I prefer regular old red chili (and I've gotten semi-good at making it, if I do say so myself), but the white is a nice change. I tried something different tonight, not sure if you noticed. I stole several encounters from two different adventures, put em in the story, and refluffed some stuff. You may have noticed, especially in the first encounter, that I didn't always remember that I'd refluffed em (a few of the dudes were carrying battleaxes in the published version, and Ranel in the last enc had a longsword in the published version--longsword doesn't seem very mad scientistish, though). I actually refluffed the last one quite a bit--originally, Ranel was a mad scientist that had brought his dead love back to life (that was the big thing, which I turned into Markelhay), and Festa was a captured prince who would try to escape unless somebody attacked him. Now, I'm not sure I liked the results of my mash-up; the encounters seemed a little boring, or at least not as interesting to me as the ones I write myself. Not enough cool terrain (although I did like the slime pit), and the one with the ettin and the owlbear was pretty dull (imo). Also, I didn't know them as well as if I'd written them myself, even though I read each at least twice. I also made up the regenerating spiders on the spot (and the fact that they were super-minions--you can blame that on the fact that there were 6 of you and a companion character, and that A-Rob joked about wanting a challenging encounter, heh), but I kind of like how that encounter turned out. I could see a couple of you sweating a little bit. That was a level 13 encounter (originally) for 5 ppl, and you had 7 so I guess my super-spiders did the trick. I had to cut a couple encounters due to time constraints--the snakes that Ham was supposed to let Oltang past, and an innocent little cottage in the woods... That one is pretty cool, though, so I might save that idea for some time later. You may not have noticed what the Halloween theme was, or even that there was one. Not surprising considering that our games are normally pretty macabre. It was the mad scientist/Frankenstein action with Ranel, btw. If I'd had time to write the adventure myself, I probably would have made that more overt (set it in a castle near a town full of terrified peasants, evidence of grave robbing, torches and pitchforks, and so on). Also a little bodysnatcher action with Lady Festa, I guess. (And there were no undead in the adventure!) If I'd had more time, I would have gathered some minis together (or made tokens), and gotten some tiles/big maps ready (I'm working on a dungeon tile collection--with some help from A-Rob, thanks buddy!--but my collection is feeble compared to Xombie's). But lack of time is why I didn't actually write the adventure in the first place. Not making excuses, just complaining. Hmm, a lot about me, not much about y'all. Not much to say, really, except that I would like for everybody to think ahead about what you're going to do on your turn. I know that's easy to say and hard to do since the battlefield changes so much, but having a plan of attack would speed up the battles. This would be a good thing considering the length of our encounters. (And Xombie was right about how that last one was going to last past 1:00...) I know I keep harping on this, but it's really the only thing I noticed about this game that you guys could improve on. Oh, I think RMS said something about wishlists. I shall explain (actually, I think redshirt explained in the first post in the wishlist thread, but I'll reiterate). A wishlist is just a list of magic stuff that you wish your DM would consider placing in an adventure. Magic stuff you want for your character. Now, this is not a list of stuff that the DM will give you, but when the DM is writing his/her adventure, it's a list that he/she can check out and get ideas for treasure. Using myself as an example DM, for this adventure I wanted everybody to get something (don't think I forgot anybody). redshirt has a list up, mentioned that he wanted that hammer, boom, hammer he likes. Xombie has his dood in the wishlist thread, but no wishlist, so I had to think about his shit a little more. His armor looked like it sucked, so boom, new armor. Now, I don't know if this armor is what he would prefer, but I had nothing to go on but what he already had. Everybody else, I had to go on memory. I knew that Gir, as a rogue, uses daggers and ninja stars. I had no idea what she already had, but figured +4 was better than whatever she was already using. Same with porky's bow. Where I messed up was RMS (who has his dood posted, I just didn't examine it to see that he is a dagger using sorc, and prolly wouldn't have noticed even if I had examined it), so he gets a staff that isn't "optimal" for him. With a wishlist, you all can tell the DMs what you would like your character to have. It'll make you happy getting a new toy that you've been wanting, and it'll make the DMs' job easier, thereby making them happy, too! (Two things to remember about wishlists: 1) you might not get everything you want for various reasons, 2) don't bother asking for artifacts...unless it's the Hand of Vecna, which I imagine will show up sooner or later... ;D) Now, after my Friday game, especially here lately, I tend to ask the guys what they liked about the game and what they disliked, what they want to see more of, want to see less of, and want to never see again. So I'm asking you guys the same thing. Be honest, be brutal if you want, you won't hurt my feelings. Hit me, I'm open! tl;dr: Business as usual.

I like the ability to use the environment to be able to attack Ranel instead of attacking him straight on... i think i did far more damage doing it that way than i would have normally... i ton think ill be doing any michael jordan bouncing the arrow off the moon type of thing (nothing but net) but it was pretty cool... and id like to think i suprised the dm just a little:)

The scale is too big. I think the minis we use are 25mm, and these are 150mm. Might be cool for giants, but not for those prices (only checked one--$45). They're pretty, though. Btw, what is a Buffalo EOD vehicle?

Btw, what is a Buffalo EOD vehicle? Never mind, I googled it. I saw those on an episode of Futureweapons or something, pretty cool.

Pretty fun: www.wizards.com/DnD/Default.aspxGo to the DnD home page and take the Monster Quiz. Don't think you need to be an Insider to do this. I would link directly to the quiz, but it looks like it's a different quiz every time you click on it. I'm embarrassed to admit that I missed one the second time I took it. And 2 the third time! DAMN!! (100% first time, 95% second time, 90% third time) Should be up for a couple days.
