Not sure if you guys are aware of this. Guy Fullerton wrote: Also, some of us are using movement wrong (me included). We can not cut corners like we have been doing. I guess half the time this would not matter, depending on if it is an odd or even diagonal movement. Still looking for a ruling on the mighty Tordek, Dwarf Champion. Tordek has ( Independent This creature is always under command and is capable of rallying itself as a commander does.) The rule book says – Independent: This creature is always under command. It can rally its self as a commander does, though with out a commander it adds only its own level (Save) number to the morale save, as if it were being rallied by a Commander 0. The question is can he be put under command? Does he get the commander effect of his commander? If under command does he get to add his commander’s commander rating to his saves? Does “always under command” mean that he ignores the six spaces away or line of site for being put under command rule or does it mean he commands him self, you know, like he is Independent? Does “though with out a commander” mean he can not be put under command or is this talking about the rare occasions when you no longer have a commander on the board? RMS and I have been talking about this. Let me know what you guys think. A lot of usefull stuff on Guy's page. I found this kind of interesting. If you don't have them it might be worth picking them up now. Might be a commbo piece in Unhallowed! 1. Under “How to ask a rules question” Guy said – “Don't put [Guy] in the title of non-rules questions. I don't have information like set release dates, and I can't talk about the contents of future sets, etc.” Implying that he does know the contents of future sets. 2. Unhallowed will be coming out soon. 3. On Guy’s home page there is a link to a tournament report. homepage.mac.com/guyf/DDM/Tourney20070113.html In it he says “I scooped out of the draft after taking a Living Flaming Sphere as the first pick. (If you knew what I knew, you'd take that as your first pick too! I kid.)"

Curses!! Mezzo just got a lot less cool. (I was actually thinking about that, since epic Pit says "unlimited uses" after fireball. But there is no box next to cloudkill on Mezzo, hence my confusion.) I had kind of assumed all that stuff about Todek. Nice to know I was right. (For a change... ) Hmm... Well, if Unhallowed is supposed to be the "undead" set (it is, right?), maybe the Sphere is good because it's an ooze? (Immune to lots of the cool stuff that some undead--cough, vampires, cough--can do.) Dunno, just a theory... Oh, and have you seen Thrall of Blackrazor? www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20070201a That looks awesome!!

I was thinking about a 500 point team.
Elminster of Shadowdale (epic) 269 Mordenkainen the Mage 69 Archmage 98 2x Gnome Trickster 27 Mialee, Elf Wizard 6 Jozan, Cleric of Pelor 4
I assume you know the "trick" with this. Let me know what you think.

Hey, I just got an Elminster today! And I was just trying to figure out how mastery of spellcasting works... I assume that that's your "trick?" Cast a ton of really good spells? I don't know. All your guys are medium, but who plays with Purple Worm? And I like the wizard theme--just get rid of Jozan!
From what I understand, Mordy's Sword is awesome; it seems weird to me that Mordy himself can't cast it (guess he had to get epic before he created that spell).
And no, I really don't know the trick.
I'm still trying to think of a team for your challenge. I'm torn between Pit Fiend, Beholder and Fire Giant Forgepriest. Kind of leaning away from FGFP--that band seems like more of a "serious" tourney band. I'll prolly go with Pit if I can find enough good dudes with only 95 pts left. (Beholder seems a little too...I don't know. Random for my tastes. Not that he's not cool. Maybe I should just play him before I start making those kind of observations!)
Right now I'm thinking: Pit Fiend 105 Mezzoloth 44 Chraal 35 chumps
But that is subject to change, naturally. (Might go with something like 4 Flameskulls and chumps!) (Nah, prolly not.)

That is part of the trick. Archmage runs up (speed F8) casts a couple of Mordy's Swords on your titan, maybe one on a commander. Then he can quick cast a Dimension Door and get the hell out of there. He then gets back to the Gnome Trickster and the Trickster casts Invisibility Sphere.
Then they wait.
Kind of like draw, go.
Later they go hunting secondary hitters and tek pieces.
I'm not going to play Archmage/Gnome Trickster for the challenge but I might play them Sat. in Columbia. Which reminds me, if you guys don't play D&D Sat. want to go? It's 200 point assault.
I guess you know your suppose to run a Dark Naga as your commander with the Beholder, right?

And it's on my message board! Thanks a lot! You can pay any lawsuits they hit me with. Been looking for a pic of Raist, and I never found any (didn't get on yesterday). He actually looks like...Raistlin! I had a shitty day today, but seeing Raist in the flesh--uh, plastic, I mean--makes me feel a little better. I agree that he needs an epic card. In CE, of course. People on the forums are making all kinds of speculations--promo epic card and repaint to black robe in dealer kits (which would really suck for those of us who don't go to tournaments), or even just releasing an epic version in another set (not sure if I like that idea, but it would keep secondary market costs down). That's just dirty. Anybody got a Red Wizard they want to trade? That is the conventional wisdom, but there are also dissenting voices that say it isn't needed. I plan on using it with Beholder, along with Doogie Champ or Maug, and then some fodder--if I can find any good LE fodder...heh. Still haven't decided between Beholder and Pit, though. Or maybe even Ghaele Eladrin... Sorry dude, doesn't look like it. If you can make it, you're welcome to come over here. I'm trying to set up the minis thing once a month on Fridays that you guys won't have to work, but that's all I can "promise." ("Promise" is in quotes cause it's not really a promise, it's more of an intention.)

So I get home and I am unable to go to sleep. By 9:00 I decide I am not going to the turny today, I hate working nights.
I did find the post you were talking about (Ghaele Eladrin Owns Your Bones), but only got a few pages in to it before I got side tracked. Your right, she does require a lot of finesse. I don’t think it will be a problem against us though. She still will own us, none of us have that much skill yet.
Any way, I got side tracked. On the first page of the post there was a line that got my attention. He wrote –
This sounds fun, real fun! This is what I got so far. I still need some fodder. Any ideas would be appreciated. Mephling Pyromancer Thundertusk Cavalry Battle Plate Marshal Couatl Dwarf Artificer
I think I'll name it "Pinky, get off the line!"

LMFAO!
Okay, that looks pretty cool. At first I wondered why Battle Plate Marshal, but then realized that he's a tank, and GDMA is pretty nice when your main dood is a dorf. Tusk looks to hit pretty hard, and the Pyromancer looks like a good caster even after he's used his fly (or flies).
For fodder, at first I was thinking Standardbearer for relay orders--he can relay Battleplate's and Couatl's CEs, pretty nice. That leaves 2 points left, though. Instead, maybe Warforged Scout (I like me some scouts!) and Jozan, Cleric of Pelor or Hill Dwarf Warrior. The Hill Dwarf is a dwarf, but you'd probably never use GDMA on him. Jozan has a turn and a heal, and might even get his command off once. That's my 2cp, anyway.
And even if the team sucks, it has a great name!
And I, at least, probably don't have enough skill to play her.
If I did, though, my team would probably look something like this: Ghaele Rikka Graycloak Ranger T-Wolf minion 2x Elf Stalker (if I own 2)
I'd like to fit a Wand Expert in there, but I want to try the Graycloak and see how he works. I really like Rikka (speed, baby), but don't know if she's right for this team. And no, I have no idea if it would work. Suggestions? (I didn't read much of the bone owning thread, to tell the truth.)
Oh, and a clarification on the 100pt Tribal, you don't have to get real specific with the tribes, so for instance, goblinoids would be legal (goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears are all goblinoids), but you have to do better than just "humanoids." Glenn said that since drow are elves, both types should be legal on the same team. I don't like that one, personally, but I guess that would still be legal.
Also, if a dude has minions the minion is legal (such as Graycloak and wolf). Same for summoners. And I was thinking that for something like Slaughterstone Eviscerator, which requires dwarves, it should be legal on a dwarf team. For example (it's the only one I can think of, and now I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not). I guess elementals are screwed, since, so far as I know, they all need a commander but there aren't any elemental commanders. Oh well.
Any other suggestions/questions/disagreements? I already have my team ready to go (unless I think of something funnier), I just need to pick a mini for the prize. It will be a rare, but probably not a good one!

I talked to Lance at the Antiquarium (SIC?) and he said that he is set up to start running sanctioned events. In DDM we only need four people to have it sanctioned. We just need to tell him when to start scheduling them. We might get the Colmubia guys coming down if he starts scheduling events but don’t tell Glenn that. “It will be just us Glenn, thats it.”
If we get are ratings high enough we can get an invite to champs. With a small group of people are ratings will not rise at all or only one or two of us will rise and then very slowly. So we still will have to go out of town to farm some points. I think there is a group in Lawrence, KS. Isn’t this Glenn’s old stomping ground?
Lance still is not able to get retailer kits but he should be able to as soon as we start showing up to play and he gets some pics. So there is another incentive, repaints and promo epic cards! I’m going to assume that a Sat. that xombie and I are off will be good for the turny but let me know if you guys have a preference.

Sounds good to me. I don't care so much about the ratings (until I decide that I'm good at it and want to play with the big boys), but the promos and whatnot would be cool. And being rated highly at anything anywhere would be cool, too (hey, #3 in the Jeff City area! cool!) (It's #3 out of 4, dude.) (Irrelevant!).
Glenn used to live in Manhattan, not Lawrence. And I guarantee you that he would not be interested in going to KS for a minis tournament. He just don't roll like that.
Yeah, pretty much any Saturday that you guys are off is fine with me, usually. So yeah, let's play some tourneys there, get some pics, and get some promo stuff. (Unfortunately, this will only encourage me to buy more minis that I can't afford. This is just as bad as Magic...)
