First off, XXXP, frickin hilarious.
Secondly, while I appreciate your attempt to intimidate us all, I would have to refute your position advocating our imminent demise. I admit that while it is technically possible that you snuff the lives of our alter-egos, the likelihood that such an event would transpire seems low to the point of negligibility. This is not to suggest that you have not the capability nor wherewithal to accomplish such a nefarious deed; on the contrary, the power, nay, the godlike power is wholly in your hands. I must caution, however, that you not take for granted the awesome responsibility that comes naturally with such awesome power. Yes, it is a trite proverb I admit freely, but in such cliches can often be found truth. And this is a truth that is universal. Or, to broaden the parable, might does not make right. You must exercise the terrible might at your disposal with extreme care and diligence that you do not abuse the trust, and dare I say love, of those upon whom your judgment falls. In the event of the expiration of our characters, and their shuffling from this mortal coil, I, personally, will be forced to the conclusion that you have, indeed, abused that power simply for your own personal and twisted amusement. Of course, I do not foresee such a dastardly occurrence, as I am wholly confident in your desire to see us not only survive, but to actually succeed and thrive.
Or, to put it another way...
YOU AIN'T GOT THE BALLS TO KILL ME, BITCH!!
Ahem. Thank you.

Well, looks like you were right... I forgot to mention, you puzzle with the glass tube was super cool! This is the kind of thing that I want more of in my game. I'll have to remember it! I was kind of afraid that the poor little shocker lizard was going to go boom; Tharsis wouldn't have minded too much, I don't think. Again, good game. We'll see what this drood can do.

Thanks... I was inspired by Myst. Honestly, I was rather surprised to have killed 2 of you... and I may have actually killed more if I had given Balor his death throes when he was killed... then again, if I were able to play the bad guys better none of us would have lived.... and I wouldn't object if those that died wanted to bring their characters back somehow... really, my true intention was just to make it challenging and a little scary since we seem to just mow through everything so easily... I'll miss the dwarf... he was fun

I'll miss the ol' dorf, too. I liked him! But he has found what he wanted in the afterlife: an eternal party (and a hot elf warrior chick that wants to saddle him...). I think my new druid is going to be cool, though. For his animal companion, he has a legendary ape (MM2, iirc) that he's cast awakening on (making him smart and self-aware, with the ability to speak and so on). The ape is named Mook, and while he enjoys a good fight, he really wants to learn to read and write. He is a silverback gorilla that wants to explore the world outside his home (the Krong Jungle to the south). (Note that due to awakening, Mook has 15 HD, which he isn't supposed to have as an animal companion; the awakening spell allows it, though. Tharsis can have up to double his level in HD for animal companions, but none can be more HD than his level. He only has the one, right now, and awakening allows Mook to have the extra HD, so I figure that's cool. I rolled it so the awakening succeeded [and I subtracted the XP], but I can reroll in front of everybody if y'all want. I had planned on doing the other advancement ritual in Masters of the Wild, too, but I'll do that after a couple levels.) (I was going to do the plant thing, but the math was more than I was willing to go through. A plant following me around would be cool, but I like the big ape better, I think.)
I have a pretty good idea for the next adventure. I wasn't happy with the last one I did, so I plan on putting a little extra effort into this one. I just hope everybody has fun, and doesn't die...at least not too easily (note that death is possible!). Hopefully you'll have to think and use a little strategy, and the "boss fight" I have in mind should be really cool.
Back to your adventure, I liked the descriptions you read; they were, uh, descriptive, and evoked the proper mood. You have a good command of the language, and you seemed comfortable and confident reading your descriptions aloud. It sounded natural, easy for us to follow, and it all made sense. I like that. (I've recently played in some published adventures, and the read-aloud descriptions are kind of cumbersome. One of them is a Gygax adventure, and although Gygax is the Odin, Zeus, and Ra of DnD, he tends to flaunt his vocabulary, which leaves me scratching my head going "huh?")
You already mentioned that you didn't play the bad guys as well as you would have liked, and I have to agree. But, you're new, and most of us have way more experience with the game. You'll get better with experience.
You're right in that we tend to mow through everything pretty easily. I don't know if that's because that's what happens at this level, or if we truly are overpowered. Maybe we're just really good at exploiting our strengths (that's what I was trying to do with Drogen; I think I did a good job of keeping up with you in the damage race!). Course, lately we've been fighting demons, and DR, SR, and immunities/resistances to energy are all coming into play, so we might be brought back down to reality a little bit. I guess we'll find out. <insert evil laugh>

Thanks... it's the story teller in me... and I did feel very comfortable doing this game. I'm sure with practice I'll be able to do bad guys like Balor more justice when using them. Now I'm curious to see what this Mook can do... I'm not sure how my character is going to react to him... it could be fun though... anywho, we may have a bit more power than we should at our level, but then again it may just be that we're not playing the bad guys as well as we could be... I always assume that death is a possibility when we fight, so I'd like to see us using more strategy like we did against the group of beholders, rather than just diving headfirst into battle without stopping to think.

The 11th is cool. Hey, that is my birthday, isn't it?
I agree that more strategy = good. It seems to be a foreign concept to us. Maybe there are ways that the DM can help us use more strategy. I will try that in my adventure. Of course, it could simply be that our strategy is to "hit first and hit hardest;" after all, a dead enemy can't hurt you...

It's hard to argue with solid logic like that. But we should try to plan our attacks at least when the situation calls for it.... Boss fights should be strategised but we tend to just stumble upon them and then the fight is on. So maybe the first thing we need to do is know our players weaknesses and strengths and test out battle plans on the minions before we get to the boss? And it sure would help to know what's going to be most effective against our enemies.. but I suppose unless one of us knows what we're fighting then we'll just have to figure it out as we go. Seems like we're back where we started... hitting first and hardest. ;D
