Thanks. I've been meaning to get that up since I created this site, and just got around to it yesterday. (And everybody who wants those rules should be able to just copy/paste/print it out. I think.) Any suggestions for more new content?

We got a small poblem, I have to work saturday the 30th, (not by choice gotta cover a person on vacation) anyway we can play friday or wait another 2 weeks, i would rather play friday.

I vote we wait. It's hard telling when the Cargill people will get off work (I just got home a few minutes ago). Also, that's my Friday game! Which usually only lasts until 10 or so--most of us generally can't stand to be around each other for much longer than that... And some of us (Glenn) get testy if we have to work late, and sometimes decides to just not play (well, once when we were playing minis). We're scheduled for long hours next week, but I don't know about the following week. I've heard a nasty rumor that we might have a Saturday coming up. I've heard next Saturday (not the 30th), but you know how they are. The co-op game is more of an all day thing, and I like it that way. As much as I'm looking forward to the next game, I would prefer to wait. gir will have that much longer to work on it and make it special! And it had better be special...

*sigh* I guess we can wait. I've only been working on this game for a few weeks. A few more will be ok. Oh... it'll be special... it'll be the [glow=red,2,300][shadow=red,left,300]BEST GAME EVER![/shadow][/glow] And anyone who disagrees with me is gonna pay...

Hey Ixos... I gotta question... can you tell me if/how to upgrade a monster/creature? Basically I want to give something extra hit points so we don't kill it in one shot...

Hey Ixos... I gotta question... can you tell me if/how to upgrade a monster/creature? Basically I want to give something extra hit points so we don't kill it in one shot... This can be done, but it really isn't for the faint of heart. Let's see if I can walk you through it (or even if I understand it, for that matter). If you have a 3.0 Monster Manual, open it to page 12 (if you have a 3.5 MM, the rules should still be there, but they might be on a different page). Halfway down the second column you'll find a header called "Advancement." Start reading. It should tell you how to do everything, and it involves math, but you're smart so you should be able to figure it out. It talks about increasing the hit dice (which basically means the monster's level). You'll definitely want to increase the ATT and saves, but you might not want to increase the size (for whatever reason). You'll most likely want to increase the damage. All that is covered in the tables they provide. If you're wanting to make a humanoid tougher (like a gnoll or an orc) you can just add class levels. It's just like making a character (like a fighter or cleric or whatever), but it's an orc (or whatever). This might take a little getting used to. For instance, a generic goblin has a Str of 8, but for a goblin fighter you'd want his Str to be closer to 15, and his Dex to be closer to 17 or 18 (or more--high level humanoids are going to be exceptional; after all, they've had as much experience in the world as our characters have had, and they won't be chumps). (To clarify the goblin example, 15 Str for a goblin seems phenomenally strong, since goblins seem to be more quick and sneaky. But he's still a goblin, quick and sneaky, so his Dex of 18 or even 20 or higher would be appropriate if he's a level 10 fighter; he would focus on speed and ranged attacks, wear light armor, and attempt to attack from a distance with a bow or thrown weapons. Then again, he might be like a god among goblins, and wade into battle clad in full plate wielding a broadsword with two hands, covered in the blood of that morning's sacrifice, screaming prayers to Glond Roda, and power attacking for all he's worth. Or maybe that's just me...) It should be pretty obvious what the various humanoids are "good" at. Orcs and ogres are strong, goblins and kobolds are sneaky, mind flayers are smart, and so on. You should usually play to those strengths, and then when you break the mold, it's even cooler. A drow barbarian would be the most awesomest thing in the world! Oh, wait, no he wouldn't... That seems wrong. But an orc wizard or a kobold cleric, yeah, awesome. An easy fix, and I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, is to just max out the hp. I open the MM to a random page--dragons, oops, try again (dragons are complicated, don't wanna talk about em here!). Okay, page 104, Girallon. It has 7d10+14 HD with 52 hp. That's less than 5 hp per HD. Not even half (not counting the +14 part). Maxed out it's 84. Not a challenge for our party, but 8 of em is CR 11, which wouldn't be a big challenge (we're level 13), but might make us stop and think. (A little secret that you can use: just add hp and AC to a critter and don't tell anybody about it. Yeah, it's a roper, but it's got 165 hp [normal max would be 130] and it's AC is 27 [normal 24]. Shh, don't tell. But maybe give a little extra XP if it turns out to be a little too hard...) Pay attention to the special abilities of monsters. An iron golem is CR 13, but I think it might be an overwhelming challenge to our party. It's AC, hp and dmg are not really important. What you need to see is the fact that it's immune to spells (mostly), and that it has DR 50/+3. Do any of us have a +3 weapon? (Possibly Jade's bow, but I'm not sure. Maybe Belle's staff, but it's Belle we're talking about...) 99 hp suddenly becomes huge. And maybe impossible. Not sure if this helped, but I hope so. If you have more questions, just ask and I'll try to answer. And, btw, the other game you DMed was pretty awesome, and I'm really looking forward to this one!
