I absolutely love the idea of the FairTax. [Political rant deleted to protect the innocent. I'll just let Boortz speak for himself.] But yeah, don't forget to vote next Tuesday.

Brother Barry goes to India. Sad to say, but it seems as if the right wing "media" (talk show hosts, if that counts as media) have exaggerated the cost. No, I haven't researched it as much as I should, but doesn't $200,000,000 per day seem like hyperbole? I hate this. As a fiscal conservative, social liberal (sort of on that last, as the ACLU is damn near as bad as PETA and the Humane Society), I must say that I agree with most of what I hear on conservative talk radio. And then they go crazy with unsubstantiated hearsay. More fuel for the socialist fire. Makes the rest of us look bad. Also, California makes me sad. No pot. No Happy Meal toys. I understand the marijuana thing, really I do; people are scared. Change is frightening, and I admit, I fear change, too. But the war on drugs was lost before it began. Legalize it, regulate it. We did it with alcohol, it can work. So many problems could be solved. But for some reason, this country still wants to legislate morality. Which leads me to... The Happy Meal thing. Seriously? This is worse than legislating morality. MUCH worse. This is starting to infringe on civil liberties. This is the government saying, "we know what's best for you, and we will force it upon you for your own good." This is exactly like the government coming into your home and telling you how to raise your kids. Exactly. Same with the Jeff City smoking ban (and I'd say that even if I didn't smoke, trust me). These are people, drunk with power, taking it upon themselves to dictate how you live your life. No, your children cannot have toys in their Happy Meal because the toys make them want this evil food. No, you can't decide how to run your business, you can't decide which customers you're going to cater to because people who don't come in here anyway are upset that you enjoy something they don't. No, by nondenominational/unoffensive/unspecific (unless it's Allah cause Islam is a peaceful, serene religion, unlike Christianity, the fucking haters)/nondivinity/faithneutral being, no! We know what's best for you! And, furthermore, you're unable to take care of yourselves. You need guidance. You need somebody to tell you how to live your life. Think of the children! I don't know about you, but I don't want anybody telling me how to live my life. I'm a quasi-intelligent person. I know what I'm doing. Yes, I know that smoking is bad for me. Yes, I know that McRibs are bad for me. But who the hell do you think you are to tell me what I can put into my body? I'm not hurting anybody but myself. So please, Big Government, just leave me the fuck alone.

That right there, that is how it's done. Simply awesome. I'd been kind of torn on the whole Fred Phelps or whatever the fuck his name is and his cult of scumbags. On the one hand, they are complete slime, a waste of skin, and frankly, it's an insult that they are breathing the same air as I am. On the other hand, we do have a thing called the First Amendment. I've heard people saying that there should be laws against these walking piles of excrement, these filth-spewing pieces of ass lint, these so-called "Christians" for whom death in the Sarlaac pit would be too kind. Somebody ought to shoot em, honestly. In fact, I volunteer to drag the motherfucker with the "Thank God for dead soldiers" sign out into the middle of the fucking street and shoot him in the face myself. What a...words fail. But that's not how we do it in this country. I don't want anybody forbidding me from saying something that might hurt their feelings, and therefore, I don't want to ban anybody else from saying something that might hurt my feelings. Like Tom Bradley said, "you have to put up with them because they have to put up with you." So. Weston, yeah, that's how you do it. Get a bunch of people together and tell these pus-filled open sores to go away, we don't want you here. Protest the protesters. These are some good people right here, taking matters into their own hands instead of running to the government and begging to make the bullies stop picking on them. Awesome. "Thank God for dead soldiers." Fuck you, asshole. These soldiers died so you could make your retarded little sign and stand out in the street and disrespect what he did for you. I hope you're proud of yourself for making a tragic loss that much worse for the family of that brave soldier. I hope you're proud of yourself for abusing the rights that that soldier died to protect. I hope you're happy in your belief that God loves you for being such a cretin with your little sign and your little slogans. And I sincerely, sincerely hope that when you die a painful, horrible death, you find out otherwise. Yesterday was Veteran's Day. If you know a vet, thank him or her for their service. And if any vets are reading this, thank you. Thank you very much.
