I'll leave out most of the fluff. Dr. Hague (Charlie to his friends) is a skilled physician from Back East who suddenly found himself haunted by ghosts. Disinherited by his wealthy family, he's gone to the Territories of the West to find his Crazy Uncle Ray in hopes of somehow breaking his curse. He is accompanied by his dwarven servant Silent Sulor, who happens to be a skilled pugilist.
Charlie has recently learned some ancient lore from the holy Book of Mercy. He's been studying it to maybe learn how to fight vampires, and has picked up some ancient medical practices (that's the fluff for Initiate of the Faith feat).
He is becoming more and more comfortable with the swarm of ghosts that haunts him, and has even learned how to add more ghosts to the swarm. He has enslaved the spirit of Alton Eaves, a vampire he and his companions recently destroyed.
