ITEMS Adventurer's Kit, Magic Chainmail +3, Crown of Eyes (paragon tier), Amulet of Resolution +2, Ring of Aquatic Ability (paragon tier), Belt of Recovery (heroic tier), Dwarven Greaves (heroic tier), Lady Minenal's Shield, Amulet of Physical Resolve +4 (2), Dagger, Crossbow, Crossbow Bolts (20), Retribution Bastard sword +4, Curseforged Weavemail Armor +5, Lifedrinker Bastard sword +5 ====== Copy to Clipboard and Press the Import Button on the Summary Tab ======
Lady Minenal's Shield is a homebrew thing, quite groovy (thanks redshirt!); and I now have all five gems for the Shield, yay! Atoran isn't quite a Battlelord of Kord, since Kord doesn't exist in redshirt's world. Atoran follows Liranan, god of sea and storm, but he gets his battlelord power from within himself. I like the Battlelord of Kord theme, and it fits Atoran, thus the PP.
I have plenty of healing (more than enough) and I give out free attacks like a pedophile giving out candy on Halloween. Only thing I'm not super happy with is my lack of save giving: I give one free one per encounter (granted, that one is at +6, and it's a minor). I have 5 heals as minor actions per encounter (4 of em are your surge plus a buttload, the other is just a surge), and one of my dailies is a full surge heal (another is temp hp), so I might have to retrain Warlord's Banner--a surge for everybody (and +2 att) is nice, but it's also overkill. Hmm, I'll have to think about that.
Pretty much what Atoran does is charge in, get the crap beat out him, and hand out a ton of free attacks to his buddies. The usual tactic is for me and Glenn's dorf fighter to tagteam a dude into oblivion while Arlin's sorcerer blasts it (my Brash Assault triggers Glenn's fighter mark attack and I give Arlin's sorcerer the free attack). Tim's invoker gets a freebie every once in awhile, but usually he and Arlin spend most of the fight running around trying not to get whacked while staying within 5 of me. I have two rules when it comes to combat: 1)stay within 5 of me if you want your goodies, I won't be coming to you, and 2)we work as a team, which means we burn one guy down at a time and then move on.
Naturally, these rules get broken all the time due to no fault of our own (those of you in the co-op game can understand I'm sure--the best strategy is worthless as soon as you come into contact with the enemy, or something like that).
Atoran is a hell of a lot of fun to play, and I'll recommend a bravura warlord to anybody wanting to try a leader. One thing, though, Brash Assault is awesome if your DM will take his free swing (redshirt is awesome because he almost always does). If the DM won't do it, then take Harlequin Style (a feat from Dragon mag that adds +Cha mod to your AC whenever you use Brash Assault--also does some stuff for other martial classes).
Maybe next time I'll have a bonus section.

Atoran updated. Biggest change is the Reserve Maneuver feat--I get to switch a power that I never use out (Tempest of Triumph) for a lower level one that I'll prolly use a lot (Sunder Armor--aw yeah).
Hopefully have wishlist 'fore bedtime. Short version: better armor (curseforged forgemail [masterwork chain] +4, razor forgemail +4 [to keep with the thing of shit happens when I get crit]), more shieldstones! Tombforged forgemail +4 looks okay, too, btw. Minor stuff for the shieldstones is cool (hell, I don't know, maybe the stone makes my shield not give armor penalty, or I can reroll a skill check, or I can burn a surge to make an immediate save, or something).
Driftmetal forgemail +4 might be nice, not spectacular. Healer's forgemail +4 looks pretty nice, too, to supplement my already awesome healing capabilities (granted, it won't work on me and most of my healing comes my way...).
Think that's a good start for a wishlist.

Atoran updated. Not much to change, just replace a daily. My new one is Victory Surge. Free-attack-o-rama! Eagerly waiting to see redshirt's head asplode when I break this puppy. Had to get rid of Bastion of Defense--kind of hard to let that one go, it's been with me since the beginning and has been pretty useful. I'll be fine, though.
Next level is Path of the Storm. I'm getting kind of tingly just thinking about it...

If you're interested, you can check out my new superhero game at: www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-silent-guardiansWe're using a fast-n-loose version of the classic Marvel Superheroes RPG (which means we're kind of making it up as we go along), with some of the stuff we like from DnD 4e (how initiative works, standard/move/minor actions [which are determined by me or by how well the guys argue for it], but no maps since we're trying to capture that old school feel). If you're really interested, you can download the classic MSH rules from here: www.classicmarvelforever.com/cms/ (go to Other Stuff, Downloads, we're using the Advanced rules and whatnot, you can figure it out from there). It's been satisfyingly epic, so far. The guys have gotten trounced by some robots, and have beaten up on some super villains. All the while trying to deal with life as college students (and one teacher). Pretty cool stuff, IMHO, and lots of fun. I like the old school feel, and I'm enjoying writing the adventures/campaign in a different genre. Also, making characters in MSH is just as much fun as making characters in DnD--if not more fun! 'Course, I like making characters... Oh, and I'll try to get Throndor posted in the next couple days (redshirt's campaign).

Here's my guy in redshirt's new game; behold the awesomeness! ====== Created Using Wizards of the Coast D&D Character Builder ====== Throndor Silverhaft, level 3 Dwarf, Runepriest Runic Artistry: Wrathful Hammer FINAL ABILITY SCORES Str 19, Con 17, Dex 10, Int 8, Wis 11, Cha 12. I was complaining that I really want weapon expertise but also wanted ritual caster. He's like, you don't already have ritual caster as a bonus feat? I'm like, huh uh. He's like, well you do now. Sweet! Now I just need a bunch of rituals to cast, mostly fire-based stuff (Throndor is not only a Rune Reader , but he's also a blacksmith). I also need some sort of ritual that will let me keep close tabs on TGL's character; I don't trust him, and our next game is going to begin with me wondering why he betrayed us.
- Rune of the Daring Shield is a rune that I found that I've inscribed on my armor. It adds +2 to AC and +1 to my NADs. Unfortunately, it also deals 1d8 extra damage to me when I get critted. Strangely, that hasn't happened. Yet...
- Although we aren't playing a low-magic game, we are using inherent bonuses (an optional rule that I absolutely love; basically, you don't have to worry about when it's "the right time" to get your sword +2 replaced by a sword +3, the rule just takes care of that math for you; that doesn't mean that there are no magic items, just that there is no need for sword +2s...). That's why my to hit is 1 more than you might think (if you were paying attention). Wait, actually it doesn't list my to hit at all. Never mind.
- The feat Resolute Stamina is completely broken. It's from Dragon magazine, and it's for dwarves only. It lets you second wind twice per encounter. As a dwarf, who already second winds as a minor. Yeah, broken.
Wish list: Well, my defenses still seem awfully low, despite my spiffy new Rune. I can't complain about it, though (cause I have a spiffy new Rune...), so I'll just deal with it. I think that a lot of my feelings of defense inadequacy stems from the fact that I'm a leader trying to be a leader and a defender while TGL and A-Hole Brother are both strikers. Luckily, they're good at striking (avenger and monk) so shit dies fast. But, since they're both melee strikers (avenger and monk), they tend to take lots of damage. A lot of the time, my healing can't keep up! Now, I know that a runepriest isn't the best healer in the egg carton, so I'm honestly not complaining. I mean, after all, my buffs and debuffs rock with authority! I think I'm just noticing the lack because I've been spoiled by Atoran and Brother Guathak. No lack of healing with either of those two. Maybe it's because I'm low-level, maybe it's because my buddies tend to get the crap kicked out of them (and we're down a man, too--A-Rob quit not so long ago, so we're running with 3 ppl now, kind of fucks up the rotation). Eh, I'm just rambling. I do have a list of rituals that I know I want: comprehend languages, unseen servant, spirit fetch, affect normal fires, endure elements, pyrotechnics, and delver's fire. I was one the other night, too, can't remember what it's called. Watchful eye or something (set up a magic eye that will keep watch over the camp and will holler when somebody intrudes; I mainly want it to watch Legs [TGL's character] cause I don't trust him). Those are the lower-level ones. I'm sure I'll want some teleporting rituals later on, maybe some magic item making stuff (maybe not, although I could refluff em to be able to inscribe "runes of my own design"). Raise dead, maybe. The surge sharing ritual, while useful for the co-op game, prolly wouldn't be so hot for this game since we all tend to burn through our surges pretty quick. Throndor is pretty fun to play. He's sort of a fatherly type, having a kid (A-Hole Brother's genasi monk, who is a 12 year old girl--no, I don't get it...) to look after. She just kind of showed up one day, and Throndor couldn't just let her wander around by herself. Likewise, Legs (TGL's elf avenger, think his real name is Argent, Throndor calls him Legs cause he's tall and fast) just kind of showed up and started following Throndor and the Kid (shit, what the hell is her name? Ah, Valandra!) around. Throndor wants nothing more than to return to Dalongron and "reclaim his rightful place" as Reader of the Page (kind of like the pope for dwarves); he chose voluntary exile after trying and failing to discredit the new guy who wanted the position. The group has been looking for a Page of the Book of Creation (an incredibly rare artifact, not many still floating around)--actually, they think they might know where three of them are--and managed to take one of them away from a demon (a fallen angel--there are no gods in this world, and the angels have come down and set up mortal kingdoms of their own--this one wasn't an Angel King, though, pretty weak compared to the others). Legs sweet talks Throndor into letting him carry the Page (Throndor really wanted to carry it, but couldn't really come up with a good enough reason to force the issue, and he assumed that everybody was on the same side). So a couple shadowy dudes show up on the road on the way back to town, and Legs gives the Page to them!! WTF?! Although I (Ixos) think that that's incredibly awesome (RP, baby!), I (Throndor) think it's total BULLSHIT!! And the game ended right there! Gaah! There will be consequences and repercussions, believe you me.
