Ixos, Redshirt, RMS I'm working on a deck for when Lorwyn comes out, is this as good as i think it is? ... are used ta put this guy in the yard. Once he is there, I can put him in play and start casting stuff like this... Do you see the trick yet? Kind of like Flashback, only I don't remove them from game! In testing so far IT IS NASTY! Here are a few more cards in the deck ... More synergy then I have seen in a long time in a deck ... Thoughts?

Looks like my style of deck! Is there a trick that I'm not seeing (yeah, I get the flashback thing, but is there a combo of some kind that escapes me?)? I was about to ask about the creature selection, but then noticed that they're all Knights. Nice. Looks good. The only thing I would worry about is the reliance on Haakon. But it looks like Haakon just puts the deck into overdrive; in other words, you can survive until you get him. Theoretically, that should be pretty quick, and Nameless Inversion and Crib Swap will keep you around until then. I like it, and the more I think about it, the more I like it! Now, keep in mind that I don't know anything about what Type 2 looks like right now, so my opinion might be, uh, flawed? What that means is that I can think of some things that the deck would really like, but that might not be available. Such as: 1. Disenchant--it's me, so naturally I want Disenchant in there. Is it Type 2, or is there something equivalent that could stand in it's place? Might not be a big issue if there are no nasty art/enches floating around. Oh wait, it's timeshifted, isn't it? Nice. 2. A tutor of some kind--mainly to get Haakon into your hand, since you should be drawing discarders pretty regularly. Prolly no B/W tutor, but it's worth mentioning, I think. 3. Better critters--to take advantage of Cairn Wanderers. What you have is pretty awesome anyway (prot 2 good colors, first strike, trample), but why not flying? Or fear? Voice of All would be ideal, if it worked with Cairn Wanderers like I would want it to. But what about Akroma? Wow, super Cairn Wanderer! Course, that would only work if there were a tutor available. But surely there are better options than Moorish Cavalry. You said that in testing "IT IS NASTY!" How nasty is it? How much have you tested it? I only ask because I think the deck looks really cool. Seems like it's my style, and if I get back into Magic in the near future, I might try to put something like this together. (And it looks relatively cheap to put together, as only Haakon and Cairn Wanderer are rare--well, Oona's Prowler is rare, but probably isn't essential.) Anyway, that's what I think about it. Don't know if it helped, or even if you wanted help, but there you go. Oh, and how did you do at Cog Con? IIRC, you were going to write a report...

You need to look at this card again. In one game I droped him turn two, and started attacking with him. My opponent could not discard there hand quick enough. I just sat back and said stuff like " Man, I wish you would stop doing that!" and " This guy sucks, I can't even hit you with him!" The whole time I'm getting more and more card advantage. He's win-win. You beat for 3 or they discard. I didn't come up with this deck but I am trying to change things and make it more me. So far I've seen a B/w version, a B/r one, and a B/u one. I've only played a couple games with it so far. I'm going to play RMS later this week, this will be a lot better test for it. I'll let you know how it does. If your thinking about playing again, let me show you what the chase rare from Lorwyn is going to be .... you know ... when that set comes out. presales for it are crazy high right now. There that should do it! Nice to have you back. ;D

Oh I get it. And the "win-win" is very true if you're playing against a "bad player" (couldn't think of a different term--"inexperienced" would probably be more accurate/less arrogant). The card is way better for YOU to use as a discard outlet than to "force" the other guy to discard. You'll get one card from a good player--the card they use to destroy it. Or something they want in the bin anyway.
I'm not saying that it isn't good, just "not essential." Haakon is essential: he turns a mediocre control deck into a broken control deck. You've got to have him. Cairn Wanderers is probably not essential, either, but they synergize so well with what the deck is trying to do that it would be silly not to have them. Oona's Prowler is the least essential rare; it's a very good discard outlet for you, a cheap beater, and might just trick your opponent into discarding some stuff. It isn't essential though, since you already have several discard outlets, and that's what it's mainly for. I'm also speaking from the perspective that were I to build this deck, I have none of the rares, and that would be the last on the list to get.
Just my opinion, of course. I haven't played Magic in a while, and don't know about Type 2. It's possible that a 3/1 flyer for 2 is hard to kill (well, it is black, so that makes it harder to kill...). And there may not be any other discard outlets. It just seems replaceable. Optimal, but replaceable from a budget perspective.
And that's not to say that the card isn't good, cause a 3/1 flyer for 2 is pretty awesome!
rms should give you a good challenge. Lemme know how it does.
And your image didn't work. You need to link it again. I'm not back yet! (Is it Thoughtseize? That's pretty cool!)

And then after I look in the StarCity store for the highest dollar card, find it and edit my post, then your dang picture works. But at least I was right!

This is looking like the deck to beat. Here is an article on starcity that was posted today. Yet another take on it. I was going to run Flagstones Of Trokair all so. They good with smallpox! He needs one or two less Urborg IMO. I like the Hidden Horror, I don't know if there is enough critters in the deck to support them.

Here is some more info for you.
Coldsnap will not rotate out until Time Spiral block does.
Lorwyn is a two set block.
The block after Lorwyn is all so a two set block, I think it is code named Jelly/Donut.
Coldsnap/Time Spiral does not rotate out until the set after Jelly/Donut.
So, there is going to be 9 and half sets in standered!
Coldsnap = 155 cards Time Spiral = 301 cards Time Spiral (timeshifted) = 121 cards Planar Chaos= 165 cards Future Sight= 180 cards Lorwyn= 301 cards Morining Tide= 155-180? Jelly= 301? Dount= 155-180? 10th ED.= 383 cards
More then 2,200 cards in type2!!!!!!!!

ig's deck is rather nasty. I played against it with a green Aggro deck and a blue/white control deck and he beat both of them. We ran out of time before we got to test it againt my White-Weenie deck. It did kick lots booty, though.

Here is some more info for you. ........................... More then 2,200 cards in type2!!!!!!!! And this is supposed to make me want to get back into Magic? (Sorry bout the sarcasm, yo.) Seriously, this would rock had I been keeping up with Magic for the last year, and I realize that many of the sets you mention haven't been released yet. But the size of the Type 2 pool is one of several reasons that I quit buying cards in the first place--it's too expensive to keep up! (Other reasons include: we don't play Magic casually; including myself there are only 3 of us interested in it; competitive Magic locally means Type 2--no support for "older" formats; and I'm not as good as I used to be [important when considering that we view Magic competitively and not casually].) But, having said all that, I would really like to play some Magic. The more I think about it, the more I realize that it's just a waste to not enjoy these thousands (and thousands, and thousands) of cards I have boxed up and stacked in my computer room. Note that I can't play Type 2 (I have very few legal cards, if any) and won't play Type 1 with ig (no power--you'd crush me, and that wouldn't be fun for either of us!) (And I think that rms has some power, too--no Type 1 with you either!) But Legacy... Perhaps Extended... Sealed and/or draft... 5-color... 100-card Highlander... Stairwell (seriously)... Magic could be fun again.
