I still am undecided. My concern is that they will not support the old game at all. Wizo has said that they are going to re-stat 60+ old figs, the all-stars if you will. This really doesn’t support the old game, it supports 2.0. I would still have to buy into a new game and this means 90% of my collection will be useless under 2.0 rules. Since these 60+ figs are going to be fan faves, they will probably all be tournament staples. That’s a good thing but they probably will miss a lot of the “secret tech”. The challenges are going to be a lot less fun under 2.0. It will kill tribal completely. We could still play with old rules. We wouldn’t have to be bothered by the DCI as well, make our own rulings, allow me to play with the Drider, allow Tim to play with the GBD, make our own maps…. The figs have dropped in price and should drop even more, except for the re-stated 60+. This will help fill out every ones collection if we decide to keep and still play under 1.0 rules. I don’t know what to do. I’m not going to keep if no one else is. Let me know what you guys think.

I'll be keeping my old ones, but doubt I buy into yet another collectible game. And from what I understand, it will be a completely different game. And since it's collectible, that means that there is pretty substantial investment to get "competitive" (even with just your friends). It would suck to spend $40 on new boosters, and still get crushed by your friends cause you didn't happen to pull any "Tier 1" figs. Sure, you have the 60 "all stars," but who's to say that what Wizards thinks are "all stars" are what you think are all stars? Doogie Champ and Couatl are probably all stars, but what about Pit Fiend? Beholder? Marut? Ghaele Eladrin?
Of course I can still play with them, but probably not in DDM 2.0. And I really don't want to buy into anther game.
So I say keep playing 1.0, and forget 2.0.

How do the guys that don't know how to use a computer feel about it? Glenn, Tim, and that one guy, do they even know yet?

They know, but we really haven't talked that much. Responses were pretty much "that sucks." You know Glenn, though, he will immediately resist the new (he fears change....). I don't think they'll be getting rid of their minis, but I don't think they'll be getting new ones, either.

I dont plan of getting the new stuff, but this would be a good chance to get some of the older more expensive stuff.

if no one sells theirs, and enough people don't buy the new ones it will make the company rethink what they have done, and I think in the long run the prices of what you have now will go up... collectibles... hard to find, not being made... at some point people will want them for nostaligic reasons... especially those foolish enough to dump them just because of a new and incompatible set... if this flops, they may come out with even newer ones that are compatible with your older ones... it's worth a shot, and hell, they're still fun to play

I can’t believe xombie was the level headed one!
Looks like I get to try a new system after all.
This may fix the whole "power creep" issue.
Maybe Gir was the level headed one.
What ever, I'm happy! ;D Now I just got to get you guys to play on a different day. The FNM card this month is Cabal Coffers!

Did anybody dl the 2.0 minis handbook? The cards look quite a bit different, they have color now. Alignments are good, evil and "unaligned." Factions are borderlands, civilized, underdark and wild. All your people have to be in the same faction, and good and evil can't be on the same side. (Most critters have multiple factions, they say.) Incorporeal is now called "phasing" (presumably, incorporeal was too big a word for the kids...?), and there are no commanders (presumably figuring out "under command" was too complicated for...well, for me, I suppose... ). Instead, there are champions, who pretty much do the same thing, but instead of adding rating to init, the highest rated champ rolls twice and takes the better of the two; champ powers are limited in number of uses, but I haven't found anything that talks about range--probably mentioned in the descrips of each individual power. The cards also include the new Def rating (used to be saving throws in DnD, but saves are being changed now to be more like AC). Critters have only "Def" and not fort, ref and will, but some attacks target a specific "def," and some critters are better at certain "defs." I think it's a bunch of hooey, meself; back in diggity two, we had real saving throws and we liked it! Looks like cones now come in different sizes. And there are icons on the cards themselves that tell you if your attack is melee, ranged, or what have you (like the Starter cards in Magic, remember those?). They use the same icon for line and cone, though; I think they could have dumbed it down a little more and given them separate icons. We don't want anybody getting confused. Oh, and most importantly, check out page 9; that is the ugliest dragon ever. I'm personally insulted! Boo. Hiss.

I'll admit that I don't like what I've seen (I've only skimmed the new book, but it seems pretty dumbed down--and note that I haven't seen any of the new minis, so that initial assessment might be wrong...), but the worst is that frickin dragon! Man, that's terrible!

Desert set is supposed to be the first set, or compatable Everything is getting updated; all minis are going to get cards that are compatible with the new version of the game. Some (popular) minis will be updated sooner than the rest of them. I don't know the schedule and I'm far too lazy to look it up. Sorry bout that. Actually, there might be links to that info here on ye olde message boards...

I saw the preview cards for the spoiler figs that they've revealed. I'm not sure I like them. They look confusing. But...I'm sure that's what several people said when they changed the look of the cards the last time. What's the general concensus in our little neck of the woods?

I don't plan on getting any of the new minis...so far, anyway (I didn't plan on getting into the game at all, if you all remember...). But, since all of the old ones are going to have new cards available online, we might have a challenge using new rules/old minis some time.
