First I would like to say I have not played enough D&D in the last few years to comment on the whole 4th Ed thing. I will let you all tell me if it is worth it when it happens. It looks like Wizards is really shaking things up. They have said there will be a new card type in the up coming set Lorywn. It will be a completely new type, not like “enchant world” or “equipment”. Rumor has it this new type will be “Planeswalker”. Five cards total, one for each color. This is supported by a recent card out of Future Sight, Tarmogoyf (read its reminder text). Allso Wizards has put up a mini site called Planeswalkers. It looks like the out line of the five Planeswalkers. Not sure. So here is my question, what is a Planeswalker? In the Magic mythos, you the player are the Planeswalker. You start the game with 20 life. You have a deck of 60 cards that represent your spells you take into battle against another Planeswalker (your opponent). So how can I have another player or a card type Planeswalker in my deck? Guess I will find out September 29.

And if i read right, only a handful of the older minis will be tourney legal when they come out with the 4e stuff. I might be wrong on this.

Ok, just read the reports and it looks like they are changing the mini game completely. None of the old minis will be playable when the new rules come out in april 08. Glad a havent got any of the new set yet.

Is this official? Can you give a link to this? I guess the major question is will they still support the old minis game? What will this do to the prices of the minis? When Decipher stopped the old Star Wars game the prices dropped like a rock. You can pick up foil Vaders for a couple bucks now. I just wonder if I should cash out now or wait. I could see them putting new cards for old figs online so you could still use them like they did for chainmail figs. I also can see them splitting up formats like in Magic (Vintage, Extended, Standard, Ect….). I just hope they still support the game, nothing kills a game faster then no support.

Yeah, sounds like you can use some of the newer ones, but the old ones are done. And you can only use the newer ones if you dl new versions of the cards. Lame. Kinda makes me not wanna invest anymore in the game if it's gonna die in less than a year. (Same with DnD; I don't plan on buying anymore 3.x books. Granted, I'll probably buy into 4e, but the difference is that it isn't collectible...)
As for the Planeswalker thing, has the mythos of Magic changed that much? Are players no longer considered Planeswalkers? I think they should have come up with a better name for their new card type.
