I got home late saturday and had to work early Sunday. On top of that I didn't take any notes, so this will not be a good report.
We had 64 players with six rounds of swiss.
Round 1- I get paired against a loud, cocky asshole from St. Louis playing the mirror. Game one I make the mistake of vapor snagging his snapcaster so I could get in with Geist of saint traft. It has flash and I'm an idiot. Game two he has out two blade splicers and is attacking me with the golem tokens. I swing in with saint traft when the only thing he has untapped is the two blade splicers. He blocks with both to kill the Geist. I vapor snag one in response to kill the other. He takes one from the snag puts the splicer in hand, takes 4 from the geist's angel and then puts the other splicer in hand. At this point I should have moved into my second main, asked him how many cards in hand and called the judge. I didn't, I reminded him to put it in the yard and moved on. I ended up taking game two but dropped the last one. 0-1
Round 2- mono white. No contest. Nice guy though. 1-1
Round 3- my opponent is one of the Moberly guys. They are all really cool and I am determined not to be a dick. He is playing G/U delver with Quirion Dryad. I so want Dryad to be good this time around again but I don't know if it's going to be. I don't remember much except reminding him to draw off his Gitaxian Probes and that he had my life total wrong all ways by some number divisible by two (phyrexian mana). 2-1
Round 4- B/R zombies. Dude beat me 2-1. Very good games but something wasn't right. He had the skill of an old timer but the mannerisms of a new player. Couldn't figure it out. After the games I started asking him quistions, he has been playing magic for maybe 2 months! He has played yu gi oh for years and understands card economy. I was impressed and told him so. 2-2
Round 5- David, him and his girlfriend are very nice people and I enjoy playing against him. He has a G/R beats deck and I take it 2-0. At the start of game two I had to mull a hand with no land. When I picked up my deck to shuffle I noticed a card that shouldn't have been in there. I sat my deck down, counted my side board and only had 14 cards. So I called the judge on my self. They gave me a warning and I got some strange looks from people. 3-2
Round 6- more G/R beats. In the last game I gut shot his birds befor I even get a turn. Didn't know it at the time but that was game. Later off of a Gitaxian probe I see a hand full of red with no mountains in sight.4-2
I ended up in 15th place with pay outs to 16th, got half a box with some good pulles. Yu gi oh dude ended up in 9th, still impressed! Ixos's niece lost round six to give her a 3-3 record. There was several people with similar records towards the end that I didn't want to play, didn't want to dream crush. David was one of them, felt bad for that win. I like the deck a lot, it feels like affinity to me in the way that you can make stupid plays and the deck just forgives you for it. In every single match I sided out the mana leaks and put in the unsummons.
Now for some EDH stuff, I want to build a new deck but not sure what to do. So I need some ideas. I need for you guys to give me some thing that is impossible to do in Magic so I can see if I can pull it off some how.
Thanks for reading, sorry I suck at writing.
